How effective is the antiobiotic 'Zithromax' with Bronchitis and Layringitus? Please help?
I personally am not a fan of Zithromax. I feel that it does not work very well especially in sinus and lung infections. I like cephalsporins much better. They are strongs and cover a broader range of bacteria. As for the mucus if it is very thick and difficult to expectorate you may wish to try mucinex. It is an over the counter medication the trully does help to thin out and bring up the gunk. In addition, pushing the fluids such as water, juice and soup broth to keep hydrated and thus thin secretions naturally. You 'raspy' voice is due to the irritation of your vocal cords foth from the infection and coughing. Talk as little as you can and when you must talk, do so in a full voice. Never whisper as this puts more strain on them and it will take longer for you to get your voice back to normal. You can also try gargling with a salt water solution to help soothe you throat. The salt water will also kill bacteria that is lodged there. If you don't feel better in a couple of days call your doctor back and get a different antibiotic. Take care and feel better soon
