My one year old poodle is so pesky - what can I do?

your poodle isn't pesky ; just smart; smart to learn how to be the leader of the pack; all this comes in check with training, time, effort, patience and love; love being last because, they are so smart that they need to see that you can do the job and lead to take the pressure off of them having to do everything; that is the Mom dog does; she guides, disciplines when needed, trains, allows pup to learn and corrects bad behavior and then loves the pup ; follow the natural chain of events, reward good behavior, can't correct past mistakes , only try to prevent future ones, she will love you in the end for your investment and she will then be able to relax and not so worried about leading b/c she has you; we had a poodle , Gigi, for 16 years, smart as can be ; would stay in the yard , never roamed, would start to bark when my car was 2 BLOCKS away so my children knew that I was close to home so run and clean you got two blocks notice of my arrival; she would bark if someone stepped on our curb so she far in advanced warned us of someone near the house; those are the only times she barked; if she was mad , she would give us the cold shoulder by sitting with her back to us; I have never had a dog that was smarter, nor a better protector nor a dog that loved us as much as she did ; we were away on vacation and she started to declined , my son was watching her at home, she waited until I got home and then died shortly thereafter in my arms; I cried for days and right now remembering how great she was, some 5 years later, be patient and train you have a great friend there!!
